PETA

People For The Ethical Treatment of Animals is reacting to Atlanta Falcons Owner Arthur Blank concerning the Michael Vick case. PETA commends Blank and the Falcons organization for not being satisfied with a voluntary leave of absence for Vick. The group says regardless of the outcome of the trial, illegal dogfighting equipment and 66 dogs - many of them injured - were seized from Vick’s Virginia property. PETA says based on those facts alone, a voluntary leave of absence would not be satisfactory. The group also commends the Falcons for drafting the paperwork for a four-week suspension in disciplining Vick. PETA is calling on the NFL to suspend Vick immediately and permanently bar him from the league if he is convicted. Because of the Falcons willingness to suspend Vick, PETA has cancelled plans to protest outside the team’s training camp tomorrow.
