3rd String QB Shockley Lost For The Season
Posted by Matt Loede on August 20th, 2007 filed in NewsFalcons third-string quarterback, D.J. Shockley, will miss the entire season after tearing up a knee in Friday’s 13-10 preseason win over Buffalo. Head coach Bobby Petrino will not make an official announcement until after practice today, but a source with the Falcons told the “Atlanta Journal-Constitution” that Shockley tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. The former University of Georgia Bulldog also injured the medial collateral ligament. Shockley injured the knee while running with the ball during the fourth quarter. He had been battling Chris Redman for the number 2 spot, behind starter Joey Harrington. Second-year player Casey Bramlett now moves into the number 3 position, but that could change if the Falcons acquire a veteran backup.
