Falcons Owner Responds To Vick Plea
Posted by Matt Loede on August 28th, 2007 filed in Michael Vick Case
Atlanta owner Arthur Blank says quarterback Michael Vick is still a part of the Falcons. Blank held a press conference yesterday on the heels of Vick’s guilty plea in a Richmond, Virginia courtroom. The owner said that while cutting Vick would have been a temporary fix, it would hurt the team in the long run. He said the signal-caller had betrayed many people with his connections to an illegal dogfighting operation and tarnished the organization. Blank said the team would continue to move forward with other star players and continue to work on player development. He complimented NFL commissioner Roger Goodell’s actions in the matter and said the team was working the ASPCA to raise awareness about animal cruelty. Vick has been suspended indefinitely by the league and has a sentencing hearing scheduled for December 10th.

No, getting rid of Vick won’t hurt the team at all. What hurts is the notion that the NFL will once again display its lack of backbone and reinstate yet another loser. But this one takes the cake. He should never again ever be in a position of influence, especially where children are concerned. The ability to participate in the calculated cold blooded murder of animals for the sake of sport is without conscience and cowardly, not ‘immature’. Everything he stands for is disgusting and sickens me beyond description. Why don’t you take some of that money you wasted on that pathctic loser and donate it to the animal organizations that truly deserve it.
