Nike Terminates Contract With Michael Vick

Nike is terminating its contract with Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick.  In a statement released Monday, the company said, quote, “Nike has terminated our contract with Michael Vick following today’s release of details of his plea.  As we have said in previous statements, we consider any cruelty to animals inhumane, abhorrent and unacceptable.”  The star athlete announced his guilty plea to a felony dogfighting charge Monday.  Vick will be sentenced by a federal judge in December, as prosecutors are seeking a sentence of 12-to-18 months.  He apologized to his fans and claimed he has found Jesus.
