Reporter Believes Vick Done With Falcons

Sports reporter Kevin Barnes says Michael Vick’s days with the Falcons are likely over. Barnes, who covers the Falcons, says team owner Arthur Blank had to say he wasn’t releasing Vick to avoid a grievance filed by the players union. Vick pleaded guilty to federal charges in connection to a dogfighting ring. Afterwards, Blank said he couldn’t release the quarterback because it would hurt the team in the long term. Barnes said fans who understand the salary cap would be happy Vick wasn’t cut. He added if Falcons fans were to accept Vick’s return to the field, he would have to play extremely well. The Falcons will likely start the season with Joey Harrington as QB after the team cut ties with Matt Schaub during the offseason. Barnes believes letting Schaub go may turn out to be a mistake.
