Boley contract talks on hold

Contract negotitations between the Atlanta Falcons and linebacker Michael Boley have yet to get off the ground, according to Steve Wyche of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. This bears watching; besides Boley’s agent, Zeke Sandhu, who indicates that the team has not approached neither Boley or him about possibly extending his contract, Boley is a restricted free agent.
This means the Falcons can place a one-year tender on Boley which in effect force any team who attempts to sign him to provide compensation. Should no team make an offer to Boley, he would become an unrestricted free agent after the 2008 season. One thing working in Boley’s favor is the fact that he is a rising defensive star on the Falcons (90 tackles thus far this season) and a bump up in pay would be in the best interests of both parties involved.
