Posted by Matt Loede on November 28th, 2007 filed in Michael Vick CaseMichael Vick’s trial on state dogfighting charges will start April 2nd. The suspended quarterback of the Falcons did not attend the brief proceeding yesterday morning in a Surry County courtroom. He won’t be sentenced on federal charges until next month, but, last week Vick surrendered to a jail to start serving time on his federal conviction. Vick is said to have run Bad News Kennels on property he owned in Surry County. The state charges Vick faces are causing dogs to fight and promoting dogfighting. The felony counts are punishable by up to five years in prison. Vick’s attorneys are expected to ask that the state charges be dropped in favor of the federal accusations. The NFL suspended Vick without pay.
