Signs Pointing to Redman Getting the Start Monday Night

The QB spot has not exactly been a place of consistency for the Falcons in 2007, and now it looks like the team will have its third starting QB when team plays host to the New Orleans Saints at home Monday night.  Chris Redman, who played well Sunday for Joey Harrington, may get the nod according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.  Head coach Bobby Petrino did not name a starting QB on Monday, leading fuel to the fire that Redman may get a look as the starting signal caller.

Petrino gave props to Redman for what he did on Sunday, which was come in and make the game competitive before the team finally lost.  “It was impressive and it started with him hitting hands and being very accurate,” Petrino said. “He made good decisions.”  Redman went 16-for-24 for 172 yards and two TD’s along with one interception.  Right now the Falcons have three QB’s that likely would be on the bench for other teams – Joey Harrington, Byron Leftwich, and Redman.

Word is that Harrington, who has been basically awful for most of the season for the 3-9 Falcons, and has started 10 of 12 games this season, would become the third string if Redman gets the start.  Leftwich would then move up to second string.  Harrington has already lost the starting job four different times in 2007, and has seven TD’s and eight picks.
