Marty Would be the Best Man to Lead Falcons

Already there is talk about who will take over the head coaching spot for the nightmare that the Falcons have become, and there are quite a few names being bounced around.  The names include guys like Bill Cowher, Jason Garrett, and current defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer.  There is one guy that I think would garner enough respect with the players and fans and that could get things turned around and it not take 3-4 years: Marty Schottenheimer.

Yes, the former Browns, Chiefs, Redskins and Chargers coach has been around the block many times, but he has enough gusto and experience to get the job done.  He was unfairly fired in San Diego after they had an outstanding 2006, so he has that fire to get back and have something to prove.  Sure the Falcons are not the Chargers talent-wise, but with Rich McKay and Marty working together, they can start to put the pieces to the puzzle together.

Some will say that the Falcons should go young at head coach, and I don’t agree.  They need a proven guy that knows the league, can get the players back, and has a track record of winning.  He would be a step up above anyone else out there (minus Cowher, who would cost a fortune), and would give a name that would draw interest right away.
