Petrino Quits Falcons, Heads For Arkansas

Falcons head coach Bobby Petrino has quit the team in order to become the head coach at the University of Arkansas. The move came on the heels of Monday night’s loss to the Saints and the sentencing of former star quarterback Michael Vick on federal dogfighting charges. Petrino was hired by the Falcons in January from Louisville. The Falcons signed Petrino to a five-year deal, believing he could take the Falcons offense, led by Michael Vick, and turn it into a winning brand of football. But a series of events, including Vick’s legal troubles and a disappointing three-win season derailed the coach’s short stay with the team.
