It’s down to two in the mind and heart for Cowboys current offensive coordinator Jason Garrett. After speaking to the Ravens on Tuesday and the Falcons on Wednesday, Garrett has reportedly decided he will either be taking the head coaching job of the Ravens, or staying put with the Cowboys and likely getting a pay raise and a promise to be the teams next head coach whenever current coach Wade Phillips wears out his welcome.
The Baltimore Sun reported Wednesday that the Ravens had offered the head coaching spot to Garrett, but he left without a deal in place to fly to Atlanta to talk again to the Falcons. He left there and headed back to Dallas last night to think about his future and where he may end up. A source says that Garrett may announce his decision on staying with the Cowboys or heading to Baltimore sometime today.
The Falcons now may move their head coaching search to former Ravens defensive coordinator Rex Ryan, who has already spoken with the team about the head coaching spot. Sources say that after Garrett, Ryan was next on the list about the position, and the team may revisit that situation as early as today.
