Running back Michael Turner is a top-notch free agent, and it looks as if the Falcons have interest in bringing the back into town for a visit. ESPN is reporting that the team is going to talk to Turner about being the main cog in their new power running game offense that new head coach Mike Smith and new offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey would like to start this season. Turner has been the main backup for LaDainian Tomlinson for the past few seasons, and last season did another solid job filling in for LT when he needed a breather or when he was hurt in the AFC Divisional Playoff and then Title game. Turner rushed for 316 yards on 71 carries last season, an average of 4.5 yards per carry and one score. In his career, he’s run for 1257 yards on 228 carries, an average of 5.5 yards per carry with six TD’s. If the Falcons do sign him, they likely would release RB Warrick Dunn.
