Falcons left tackle Sam Baker was inactive for last week’s game, but may be ready to return to action against Tampa Bay. “We’ve been working Sam back in,” Smith said of the left tackle. “Sam practiced again today. We’ll see what type of residual affects he has.” Weiner has started the last seven games at left tackle. “Todd Weiner has come in and done an outstanding job in replacing Sam,” Smith said. “It’s going to be good to have Sam back, when we can get him back.”
Smith has said that he doesn’t have a hard and fast rule on players not losing their positions when they go out with an injury. Baker, who is recovering from back surgery, opened the season as the starter and started five of the first six games. Smith would not say if Baker was returning to the starting lineup. “That’s a coaching decision that we really can’t talk about,” Smith said
