With Michael Boley going to the Giants and Keith Brooking going to Dallas, it put the Falcons in a bind at outside linebacker. Mike Peterson could be the answer to at least one side of the linebackers. He was drafted out of Florida to the Indianapolis Colts, where he played outside linebacker.
He then was the middle linebacker for the Jaguars the past 6 seasons which 3 of those seasons he was the leading tackler. He has started in 117 out of 135 games with 1000 tackles, 19.5 sacks, 6 forced fumbles, and 15 interceptions. One interception was taken back for a touchdown. If the Falcons draft a linebacker in this years draft, Peterson could be the guy to help the kid out. He is set to visit the Falcons during this week. Last week he left the Bills without a contract.
UPDATE: Mike Peterson has signed a deal with the Falcons Monday night, its a 3 year deal.
