Rookie WR Kerry Meier Out for the Season with a Knee Injury

The season is already over for rookie pass catcher Kerry Meier, who was placed on IR with a knee injury suffered last night against the Pats.

The Atlanta Falcons have placed rookie wide receiver Kerry Meier on injured reserve, ending his season. Meier injured his knee against the New England Patriots this week in a preseason game.

Earlier this summer, the Falcons signed the fifth-round pick to four-year, $1.947 million contract. The deal included a signing bonus in the neighborhood of $157,000.

A converted quarterback from Kansas, Meier caught 102 passes last season. Two seasons ago, he caught 97 passes for 1,045 yards.

For his career, Meier is the Jayhawks’ top receiver with 226 receptions. He ranks second with 2,039 receiving yards and 18 touchdown catches.
