Falcons Release CB Gabe Derricks, OG/T Mark Ortman

The Falcons have waived undrafted rookies safety Gabe Derricks and offensive lineman Mark Ortmann, Jay Adams of AtlantaFalcons.com reports. Derricks (6-1, 190) played his college ball at San Diego, and spent the OTAs and mini-camp with the Falcons before being waived in June. The Falcons re-signed Derricks on August 15, and he was credited with one special teams tackle during the Falcons’ pre-season loss to the New England Patriots four days later.

Ortmann is a 6-6, 295-pound guard/tackle from the University of Michigan, Ortmann started 27 games in college, including 21 at left tackle between 2008-09. Ortmann played through a dislocated elbow in 2008, but answered any questions about his strength by posted 30 reps on the bench press at his pro day.
