Falcons Go with Georgia LB Dent in Round Three

The Falcons after moving their 2nd round pick to Cleveland were back at it in round three, shoring up their LB core with the pick of Akeem Dent from the University of Georgia.

Here’s the lowdown on Dent from the School’s Website

2010: Selected to play in the East-West Post-Season All-Star Game.
*Graduated in December with a degree in Housing.
*Named All-SEC Second Team by Associated Press.
*Selected as team’s defensive captain.
*Earned one of team’s Coaches Leadership Awards for defense.
*Started all 13 games recording a team-best 126 tackles including 6.5 for loss and 2.5 sacks while also forcing and recovering two fumbles.
*Led or tied for the team lead in tackles nine times.
*Ranked second in the SEC in tackles per game with 9.7.
*Posted seven games with 10 or more tackles including a career-best 16 tackles vs. Ga. Tech, 15 at Kentucky, 13 vs. Florida, 12 vs. Tenn., 12 at Colorado, 11 at No. 2 Auburn and 10 at Miss. St.
*Recipient of the Charles G. Rood Football Scholarship.
*Earned Athletic Director’s Honor Roll distinction for spring semester.
*Earned True Grit Award on defense following spring drills.
*Recorded four tackles in spring G-Day game including a sack.

He’s 6’1, 242 pounds, and should start on special teams and could round into a solid player for years to come for the Falcons.
