Breakdown of the Third Day of the Draft for the Falcons

NFL.com breaks down day three for the Falcons, and gives their take on some background on the players the team picked.

Round 5, Pick 14 (145) (From Rams) Jacquizz Rodgers RB 5’6″ 196 Oregon St. 6.2

Pick Analysis: Thomas Dimitroff aggressively moves up to pick up a diminutive playmaker in Rodgers. Though his size is a bit of a concern, he gives them an elusive third-down back with big-play ability.

Round 6, Pick 27 (192) Matt Bosher K 6’1″ 208 Miami 2.0

Pick Analysis: Bosher is accurate and playing inside a dome will only help him.

Round 7, Pick 7 (210) (From Lions) Andrew Jackson OL 6’5″ 299 Fresno St. 5.5

Pick Analysis: Jackson is likely a backup to begin his NFL career, especially in Atlanta. But he provides solid depth should somebody get injured. Maybe down the line he can become a starter, as he has a hard-nosed edge to him.

Round 7, Pick 27 (230) (From Patriots) Cliff Matthews DL 6’4″ 257 South Carolina 5.3

Pick Analysis: Matthews is limited in what he can do, but the Falcons will try to get all they can from him, as he has a high motor.
