The injury bug has hit the D-line hard thus far in Falcons’ camp, and as expected the team made a move late Friday evening, signing defensive tackle Conrad Obi. Obi, a rookie from Colorado, had been in Arizona Cardinals’ as an undrafted free agent before being released.
A native of College Park, Georgia, Obi provides defensive coordinator Mike Nolan with another body while Corey Peters and Vance Walker remain out with injury.
In the team’s first full practice without Walker yesterday night, it was another rookie, Travian Robertson, who made the most of his opportunity to see the field.
Robertson split a sack with defensive end Lawrence Sidbury, though it was Sidbury who was ultimately presented with one of two game balls after practice. Sidbury finished the Falcons’ Friday Night Lights practice with 1.5 sacks (unofficial total.) Sidbury recorded four sacks last season. The other game ball was presented to wide receiver Michael Calvin.
