Falcons get to 75; Waive Parker Wilson, Place Peters on Injured List

The John Parker Wilson era is over in Atlanta.

Wilson was the team’s final cut of the first wave of preseason roster moves, as he was dismissed from camp yesterday night. The former Alabama Crimson Tide had been with the Falcons since the summer of 2009, after going undrafted earlier that year.

Wilson never saw any regular season game action with the Falcons, spending much of his time with the team on the practice squad. With his practice squad eligibility waning and Dominique Davis impressing, Wilson’s time with the Falcons was expected to come to an end as early as two weeks ago.

Davis is now alone in a battle with veteran Chris Redman to be Matt Ryan’s number one backup once the regular season begins.

The Falcons also announced yesterday that starting defensive tackle Corey Peters has been placed on the reserve/non-football injury list. Peters suffered a foot injury early in training camp and has been inactive ever since. He is now guaranteed to miss the first seven weeks of the regular season (games in weeks 1-6, bye in week 7.)

Peters is eligible to return to game action on Oct. 28 against the Eagles.

Expect Vance Walker, Jonathan Babineaux, Peria Jerry and Travian Robertson to all see reps in Peters’ place a week from Sunday against the Chiefs.
