It is Combine week in Indianapolis and Jadeveon Clowney is in attendance. This is a time that scouts from every team in the NFL will be paying close attention to each and every draft prospect. One of the most highly regarded prospects in this year’s draft is South Carolina’s Clowney. Clowney measured in at 6’5″ and 270 pounds.
On Sunday, Clowney told the press that he would like the Falcons to trade up to draft him. Clowney then spoke his interest of the Falcons.
“I hope I don’t fall to No. 6. I like Atlanta — a lot,” Clowney said. “They’re pretty good. They’ve got some guys from South Carolina on the team, also. And it’s close to home.”
Clowney is hoping to be the first overall pick in the draft and has expressed that he deserves to because “defense wins championships.” Will the Falcons look into Clowney?
Obviously the defense struggled heavily during the 2013 season as the Flacons ended with just a 4-12 record. So, the Falcons will weight their options but will either address the defense or take a lineman to help protect quarterback Matt Ryan.
General manager, Thomas Dimitroff, has traded up in the draft before. In fact, the Falcons traded up to No.6 three years ago to draft Julio Jones. Now, the Falcons own the N0. 6 pick and they could trade up again.
