Falcons Release LB O’Brien Schofield to Make Room for A.J. Hawk

The Falcons made their roster move today to make room for newly inked LB A.J. Hawk, as the team has released linebacker O’Brien Schofield.

Schofield appeared in 16 games for the Falcons last season and made 10 starts for the team. However, he wasn’t re-signed by Atlanta until two weeks into this season. Schofield played just 14 defensive snaps and 34 special teams snaps over the last two games for the Falcons before being released on Tuesday.

However, the Falcons had a more pressing need for a replacement for Sean Witherspoon, who was lost for the season to a torn Achilles tendon.
