Falcons Kicker Matt Bryant Suffering From a Strained Hamstring

The injury-ravaged Falcons absorbed another blow on Monday when head coach Dan Quinn announced veteran kicker Matt Bryant would miss the team’s Week 7 game against the New York Giants with a strained hamstring according to Kelsey Conway of atlantafalcons.com.

The injury seemed to happen when Bryant successfully kicked a 57-yard field goal late in the fourth quarter in a game the Falcons held on to win 34-29 over the Buccaneers. The 43-year-old Bryant could be seem limping on the sidelines afterwards and later headed into the locker room early accompanied by trainers. Former Oakland Raiders kicker Giorgio Tavecchio is the favorite to replace Bryant against the Giants next Monday. The Falcons are on bye in Week 8 so Bryant will hopefully be able to return with a couple of weeks rest. The 17-year veteran has been the Falcons placekicker since 2009.
