The Falcons are closing in on a new head coach, as reports from ESPN state the team has made an offer to Tennessee Titans OC Arthur Smith to be the team’s new coach.
The 38-year-old has been the OC for the Titans the last two seasons, and the Titans this past season won the AFC South before losing to the Ravens in wild card weekend Sunday at home.
The offense for the Titans thrived with Smith as the OC, as they averaged 30.7 points per game with Smith calling the plays.
This last season the Titans put up 396.4 total yards per game, third in the NFL. They won the AFC South before losing at home in Super Wild Card Weekend to the Baltimore Ravens.
Smith will be taking over for Dan Quinn, who was fired along with GM Thomas Dimitroff after the Falcons limped to an 0-5 start on October 11th.
