Kicking Job Going to Cundiff for Now

Atlanta’s kicking job is solved for now as the team is going to go with former Cowboys and Saints kicker Billy Cundiff. The team said good-bye to Aaron Elling, who was the competition for Cundiff to kick off and kick extra points and field goals.  Elling was cut before Monday’s evening practice.  Following the team’s first of two practices Monday morning, coach Bobby Petrino said Cundiff had pulled ahead of Elling in the competition.  Cundiff was with the Cowboys in 2002 through 2005, and then went to the Saints in 2006, but only attempted one field goal and missed it.  He was somewhat inconsistent with the Cowboys, going 12-for-19, 23-for-29, 20-for-26 and 5-for-8 in field goals in this four seasons there before being let go six games into the 2005 season.  His best season was 2003, when he made nearly 80 percent of his field goals.  For now, the job is his, as the Falcons have not spoken about adding another foot to challenge Cundiff in camp
