Case Against Falcons CB Owens Dismissed

During a family violence hearing in Superior Court of Gwinnett County, the case against Falcons cornerback Christopher Owens has been dismissed, D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Latia Perry, Owens’ ex-girlfriend and mother of his nine-month child, had accused the Falcons cornerback of entering her apartment when she was not home and damaging walls and electronic devices before putting her jewelry and designer clothes in a pile and dousing them with bleach.

“He’s is pleased that she decided to dismiss the case,” Randall Kessler, Owens’ attorney, said. “He looks forward to working with her to raise their son together.”

A third-round pick out of San Jose State in 2009, Owens has started nine of his 32 career regular season games, totaling 69 tackles and three interceptions. Owens was named the Falcons’ Man of the Year in 2010 and was nominated for the league-wide Walter Payton Man of the Year Award, which went to Minnesota Vikings safety Madieu Williams.
